Tianjin, known as the diamond of the Bohai Gulf, is one of the four Municipalities direct under the Central Government. Only120 kilometers from Beijing,Tianjin has always been the gateway to the capital of China. Tianjin is the No.1 port city and the biggest financial center in the north of China. Tianjin is situated in the northeast of the North China Plain, east to the Bohai Sea and north to the Yanshan Mountain, Haihe River winds through the city like a jade belt.Tianjin covers an area of roughly 12,000 km2and with a population of over 14 million.

Tianjin has a semi-humid continental climate in the warm Temperate Zone, with an annual average temperature of 12 degrees centigrade and rainfall of 571 millimeters.

As a famous historical city, Tianjin is rich in historical relics and natural scenery. The best known scenic spots and historical sites include Ning Garden, Tianhou Temple (Temple of Heavenly Empress), Dule Temple in Jizhou District, The Great Wall at the Huangya Pass, the Panshan scenery area etc.

Tianjin is honored as ‘Building Museum’ leaving behind more than 1,000 beautiful buildings with extraordinary and exotic architectural style in the old concessionary areas. The Five Old Street (Wu-da-dao) is known as the “Exhibition of the World’s Architectures”. small western-style villas of Classical, Gothic and other different styles let you stroll along architecture art galleries and pass through the tunnel of time, as if you were in the concession territory during the Period of the Republic of China, tasting the rare peace in troubled times.

Tianjin snacks enjoy a good reputation throughout the country. 18th Street Fried Dough Twists, Go Believe steamed bun (Gou-bu-li Baozi), and Earhole Fried Cake are known as the “the three unique delicacies of Tianjin”.
